Fort Worth 24 Hour Booking Lookup

Fort Worth 24 hour booking records are available through the Fort Worth Police Department and the Tarrant County jail system. FWPD posts a public jail inmate list that shows recent arrests and booking details. Tarrant County handles long-term detention and maintains a separate inmate search tool. Fort Worth is the fifth largest city in Texas with close to one million residents. The city has its own jail for short holds, and people arrested by FWPD may be held there before transfer to the county. If you want to find out who was recently booked in Fort Worth, you have two main options to check. Both are free and open to the public.

What makes Fort Worth different from most Texas cities is that FWPD publishes its own recent arrests list. You can see it at the FWPD Recent Arrests page. This list shows people currently held at the city jail with their booking info, charges, and bond details. It updates as people come in and get released.

The Tarrant County Sheriff at (817) 884-3099 runs the county jail. People who are held longer than a short period at the city jail get moved to the county facility. Both systems are searchable, so check both if you cannot find someone in one of them.

Fort Worth Booking Process

The arrest and booking process in Fort Worth has a few steps. An FWPD officer makes the arrest. The person goes to the city jail at 350 West Belknap Street. Staff at the jail take fingerprints, a booking photo, and log the charges. If the hold is short and the person makes bail quickly, they may get released from the city jail. If not, they go to the Tarrant County jail.

Under the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure, Article 15.17, the person must see a magistrate within 48 hours. The magistrate explains the charges and sets bail. This hearing generates its own set of records. The bail amount depends on the charge, the person's history, and whether they are considered a flight risk. Some people get out on personal bond. Others need to post cash or go through a bondsman.

All of these records are public under the Texas Public Information Act. You can ask for them. The law gives agencies 10 business days to respond. Basic booking data, including the person's name, charges, and arrest details, is always available. Some investigative files may be withheld under Section 552.108, but that exception does not cover the basic booking info.

Note: Transfer from the city jail to the county jail can happen within hours, so check both systems if you are looking for someone.

Fort Worth 24 Hour Booking Access

FWPD stands out for putting its arrest data right on its website. The recent arrests page is one of the more transparent booking tools run by a city police department in Texas.

Fort Worth Police Department 24 hour booking records

The image above shows the FWPD website. The department makes it easy to find who is currently in the city jail. This is separate from the Tarrant County jail search, which covers people who have been transferred to county custody. For the most complete picture of Fort Worth bookings, check both sources.

Criminal Records in Fort Worth

Beyond the 24 hour booking tools, several state resources cover Fort Worth criminal records. The DPS Criminal History search has statewide data. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice covers state prison and parole records. The Texas Commission on Jail Standards tracks jail population data.

If you are trying to get records removed, Texas provides two paths. Expunction under Article 55.01 of the Code of Criminal Procedure wipes the record. Nondisclosure under Government Code Chapter 411 seals it from public view. Not everyone qualifies. TexasLawHelp.org has free information on eligibility and forms for both options.

The Texas Attorney General's Open Government Division is there if you run into trouble getting records from a local agency. Their hotline is (877) 673-6839. They handle disputes between the public and government bodies over record access.
